  “Sounds like my brother finally found a way to woo his mate.” Leo chuckled as he fisted the neck of the beer bottle in his hand and brought it towards his lips.

  “Might shed a tear?” Eleanor challenged Leo and he swallowed down hard. His mind snapped from what he’d been thinking about, mating with his own woman, to what she was talking about.

  “What?” He knew exactly what she was talking about, but he hoped that he was mistaken.

  “Back there with Greg, you, and your brother.” She raised those accusing eyebrows at him again from across the kitchen table.

  “You- you heard that?” Leo growled out. How could that be? She was a witch…

  “I’ve been linked to this pack from the moment that you bonded with me, idiot…” She berated him.

  “How? You’re Fae, not Lycan.” Leo demanded.

  “You say that like it’s a bad thing.” Eleanor snapped back.

  “No- I… no…” Leo almost bit off his own tongue. He seemed in two minds with his answer and yet he knew he’d be walking a fine line with his mate and probably sleeping out of their bedroom tonight if he dug a damn hole for himself now.

  “Careful, mate…” Eleanor raised her eyebrows at him and put her hands on her hips. Damn, he hated it when she did that.

  “It’s not a bad thing…” Leo held up his hands in front of his chest, one still contained the bottle.

  “I might just need to borrow Selena’s pitchfork.” Eleanor narrowed her eyes on him until she saw him swallow down a good portion of his tongue. Then she snapped right back out of it again.

  “Or I might just give you a Scooby snack, if you’re a good boy.” She teased and heard a growl rumble through him. Her hand snapped upwards and her index finger came out and Leo snapped his head back on his neck and mentally kissed his backside goodbye. “Don’t you growl at me like that.”

  CHAPTER FIFTEEN

  ~

  “I was just clearing my throat.” Leo swallowed again.

  “Sure, you were.” Eleanor snapped her hand down again and saw him let out the breath of anticipation that he’d been holding.

  “I swear, honey…” Leo lied and she narrowed her eyes on him again. He clamped his lips shut. It was the only way he knew not to keep digging that hole.

  “He’s a really bad liar.” Selena shook her head and berated him with just a look. “I think you should go with the pitchfork.” She added and watched his eyes widen.

  “Now, wait a minute…” Leo looked to Adrian for help. His brother scoffed at that idea.

  “Don’t look at me, the only fork I want to feel is one in my hand when I’m eating. You’re on your own.” Adrian grinned and Leo scowled back at him.

  “Never thought I’d see the day my own brother would back down from a fight… and with the Fae too.” Leo tried to rally his brother’s support, but he knew he’d dug his own grave the moment his mate gasped in a breath.

  “And with the Fae too?” Eleanor looked at him as if he’d just kicked a damn puppy.

  “I didn’t mean it like there was anything wrong with being a…” He stumbled and choked over his own words. Her hands were back on her hips and he half closed his eyes in defeat.

  “I’m sure you didn’t…” She bit out.

  “Sweetheart, be reasonable…” Leo placed the bottle down on the kitchen side and held both hands back in front of his chest again.

  “Like- Fae reasonable…?” She asked.

  “No, I was thinking way more reasonable than that…” Leo spluttered a chuckle from his lips. He already knew that his backside was going to get it one way or the other, pitchfork or zapped, it didn’t matter, he was still going to make her feel guilty for it later when they made up…

  “You!” She zapped him a good one and he yelped as the pain stung his backside.

  “Damn, woman, you’re like Faery mean today!” He growled and her eyes snapped towards the outside world. She’d all but forgotten about the Faeries with everything that had been going on. She started for the back door, stopped, pointed her index finger at her mate and watched him snap his head back on his neck…

  “I haven’t finished with you yet, but there’s something I need to take care of first.” She snapped in his direction.

  “Where are you going?” Leo growled as she turned back towards the door and yanked it open.

  “I have a Faerie to deal with.” Eleanor called over her shoulder. Leo frowned.

  “Should I go…?” He asked Selena and the woman shook her head.

  “Not unless you want to be the butt of their Faerie sense of humour, and when I say butt, I mean ass.” She pointed to his backside and he shook his head from side to side.

  “Nooo…” He growled.

  “She’ll be fine. She called them to us, she can release them.” Selena shrugged.

  Outside; Eleanor stomped down the path towards the woods. She knew Faeries, and it would take one bit of mischief to replace another bit of mischief in their minds. She could banish them, but they hadn’t really done anything wrong…

  “I’m in need of some assistance in finding a mate for a bear…” She thought of the Faeries and only the Faeries until there was a bright flash of electric blue just off to her left. She smiled to herself once she knew she had garnered their attention.

  “My friend Greg needs his mate and who better to go out and find her than my new friends?” The wisp whizzed by in front of her…

  “And I may just have a few trinkets by way of thanks lying around somewhere for when you return…” She reached up into her hair and snagged a pretty red clip between her fingers. “But until then, call this a token of my friendship.” She placed it on the ground and turned on her heels back towards the house.

  With a smile on her lips and an excited buzz within her for what was to come; she didn’t turn around as she headed back away from the Faeries and into the house. If they accepted her token then Greg’s mate would soon be on her way. It was all she could hope for.

  Right then and there she had her own mate to deal with, and that was going to take her the rest of the day, and well into the night before she let him off the hook for his- slip up. He was gruff at times, and he sure knew how to put his big old foot in his mouth, but he was hers and she loved him more than anything, and she wouldn’t change him for the world.
