“It sounds like you want me.” Scott breathed against my ear and I gasped in a breath.
I do. I want him. I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life before and that was a heady list to top.
A glancing brush of his lips against mine as he peeled my top downwards was moreish. My breasts sprung free, but not for long. His hands covered them, teased and tweaking, and tormented them until they begged for his mouth.
I felt his tongue skirt one hard nipple and my inner muscles clenched as my womb was struck by erotic lightening. The palm of his hand burned the skin of my back with a rush of heat as his mouth closed over one nipple and he sucked- hard- harder until my head tipped back and I felt that vibe against my clit. He tugged at it as he pulled away, and his tongue ran up over my collarbone, and all the way up the vein in my neck.
Go on, bite. Have a taste…
“Not yet…” His words were whispered against my ear and I felt another jolt of excitement because it was a promise to do just that. To sink his fangs into my vein… “You’re teasing me.”
He didn’t let me answer. He claimed my lips with so much passion that the world around me ceased to exist. Just him and me. Just touch and feeling.
His hands made fast work of my clothes. I was standing naked against him before I could even consider thinking about it again. I wondered what I looked like to his eyes; seeing me naked for the first time with my curves on display.
“Exquisite…”
The floor disappeared from beneath me and there was that rush of excitement again. I could feel the cool breeze against my naked skin as he took me across the room…bed? Somewhere else?
“Bed. I want you laid out like an offering. I want to taste every inch of you…” I felt the coolness of the silk against my back as he laid me down. The press of his body against mine was a divine contrast.
Then he was gone and I mourned the loss. His hands gripped my inner thighs and I didn’t resist the push as he opened me to him. I felt the brush of his silken hair against the skin of my inner thigh, and the first swipe of his tongue against my sex almost sent me shooting up the bed…
A heartbeat later and his tongue ran up my ribcage. His blunt teeth nipped against my left breast as his fingertips stroked up my right outer thigh. My brain was confused as to which feeling to follow.
His hands gripped my hips and I was rolled onto my stomach, so fast that my head spun, but the feel of his tongue running up my spine centred me. His fingers ran down the crack of my backside and he found the wet, needy heat of my sex. He nipped at the nape of my neck as he pushed two thick fingers deep inside of me.
I was gone. Lost to the myriad of erotic touches and sensations. Not least the feel of his hard cock as it rubbed against the crack of my backside…
Now. I need you now…
“Not yet…” There was that melodic chuckle again. Just as his thumb stroked against my clit and he ran his tongue up the vein in my neck.
Bite, at least bite…
“Soon.” Scott promised on another chuckle as his chest touched my back on his way back down my body. I got the distinct impression he loved to tease and that was ok, because every witch has her day too.
I felt his breath against my skin and my mind tried to follow his journey as his fingers took my channel, made the inner muscles clench with need, as his thumb moved against my clit and it made me squirm.
He reached beneath me and flattened his palm against my stomach, lifting me onto my knees. I must have looked a sight with my shoulders pressed down into the mattress and my backside up in the damn air. I felt his fingers slip away and tried to move, but one hand held me in place…
Then he feasted. He devoured my sex like a starving man. I had nowhere to go, nowhere that I wanted to be more than this, and I fisted the covers beneath me and tried to breathe, but that was impossible. He was killing me with kindness…
I don’t know what curses and profanity I was spitting out, but I’m sure that it must have been good, because he doubled his efforts and shot me to the stars with one hell of an orgasm that rattled my bones and made my brain scrambled eggs.
“Mmm, food. I could go for a bite about now…” His words were against my ear. His breath was caressing my cheek and neck, and just as I started to come back down to earth; he pressed his cock inside of me and I was lost again to the feeling of that steel covered satin length stretching me wide around it and making me hot for more.
For everything.
Deep, deeper, and then some. The man seemed to fill every inch I had to offer and more, stretching me tightly around me, rubbing back and forth over those inner nerves that made my toes curl, clench. I felt that tingle, that strange sensation within me as he started to thrust; the building of the next orgasm.
Large hands reached for me. He brought my back up against his chest and locked my body into place with one strong arm that palmed the valley between my breasts. I shoved my backside out and curved my back, taking him as deeply as I could, and resting my head back against his shoulder.
I felt his fingers fist my hair and the tug of my head to one side; opening up my neck for his bite. I wanted to feel his fangs enter my flesh now, before that orgasm took me away… his tongue licked down the vein, my heart was going like a frigging freight train…
The fast, razor sharp pain cut through the pleasure. There was a moment, just one, when all I could think about, all I could feel was that pain, and then he feed, pulling on the vein, and that feeling was so damn erotic, so all-consuming that I lost myself to it.
His hips weren’t pounding, they were keeping a steady rhythm. His cock was taking my channel back and forth. But it didn’t matter the speed or the intensity; his feeding was going to send me over the edge as each pull on my vein played out on my clit, on the inner nerves of my channel…
I cried out with the first intense wave that shot through me in white hot spasms. Every inch of my body was on fire, was alive with that release. I heard his grunt of pleasure as my inner muscles went into hard spasms around his cock, sucking it, begging for his seed.
I felt the pull of his fangs leave my flesh. His tongue sealed the wound as he savoured every last drop. Then he pulled out of me; lifting me from the bed, and turning me onto my back.
One moment I was empty and lost and the next he was thrusting back inside of me and making me whole again. Strong hands snagged my wrists as I reached for him, still unseeing against the red silk scarf, and he thrust them back against the mattress above my head.
Damn, that turned me on more than I thought it would; trapped, helpless beneath him, and so damn wanton that I’d take him any way that I could get him…
“I’ll remember you said that.” He groaned out against my ear before his hips moved faster; his cock claiming me, over and over, and over until I wanted to scream out with the frustration of being so damn close to another orgasm and yet denied it.
I could hear his grunts, his groans. I could feel his body tensing; getting as damned close as I was, and I revelled in it. His thrusts started to become erratic as he searched for that release too…
Blood, taste me again. Bite, feed, feast… he wouldn’t lose control. I knew it deep down. I knew it in my soul…
The pain of his fangs back at my neck made that frustration claw within me. Or maybe it was the way he feed; hungrily, greedy for my blood. I felt that orgasm tear me apart, and the last thing that I can say I remember was the feel of his fangs leave my flesh and the roar that echoed through my mind as he found his release.
CHAPTER TWELVE
JoSS
“So, are you planning on staying in town?” My sister looked slightly drained, but what could you expect from a woman with a damn vampire as a mate?
“Would that bother you, Sister?”
Crafty. Sneaky. She was tossing the damn bad guy ball back into my court. Well, I could play tennis if that was her game.
“Would it bother you, if it bothered me, Sister?” I offered back wi
th a small smile.
“In truth, no.” Sydney gave a small shrug off her shoulders and sealed my fate. I’d have to move. Leave the Cove, there was nothing else for it.
“I thought not.”
“Because, I know I’m going to be a different person now that I’m mated and settled.”
I snorted my contempt for that statement. The one thing my sister would never be and that was a different person. She was a rebel rouser and now that she had a mate to save her backside; well, I didn’t see that getting any better. Only time would tell.
“Joss!” Doug barked out at the top of his lungs as he stormed into the bar and the weasel bartender, Warren, jumped backwards as if Doug had just suddenly appeared in front of him and wasn’t on the other side of the room.
I’d heard the man’s feet coming a mile off.
“I don’t care.” I announced it with true conviction. I didn’t care. It wasn’t my job to be the town’s supernatural peacekeeper any longer.
“Those shitty, toilet brushed tailed, little pesky fecking rodent vermin have been at it again, and I swear…” He was as red in the face as I’d ever seen him. I would have laughed out loud had it not have made matters worse and probably caused his beast to explode from within, and who wanted a few tons of pissed off grizzly bear breathing down your back?
“Sorry, find another sucker to deal with your damn problems. I’m out of the rodent business, the supernatural business, and the dogsbody business. So, Doug, tell it to someone who cares.” I shrugged. It felt good not to care.
“That’s not how this works…” Doug growled. I spun around on my chair to give him my full attention.
“Is it not?”
“No.” I could see that big old vein in his temple throbbing.
“Boo-hoo.” I shrugged again. Doug growled and scowled.
“You’re serious?”
“Deadly. As in, if you keep on- I will kill you.” I thought I needed to make myself crystal clear. “Find another stooge, another patsy to tell, growl, grunt, and generally scowl your problems at. I quit.”
Doug snapped his head back on his neck and his face twisted into a look of pure disbelief. If he wasn’t careful that throbbing vein might just burst. Again, not my bloody problem.
“You can’t quit. It’s not a job.”
“My point exactly.” I snapped back. “It’s not a job, so I don’t have to do it. Bye-bye.” I turned back to face my sister and the amusement in her eyes told me that Doug was standing there looking as if he was chewing a wasp.
“That’s not how this works…” Doug growled, even if he did sound a little more whinny than usual when he said for a second time.
“It doesn’t work, at least not for me anymore. Hence, I quit.” I didn’t turn back towards him.
“B-but you’re the only one who can handle those little feckers…” Doug protested and I sighed inside.
It was true. Everyone else just wanted to go postal on their backsides, but somehow I always seemed to be able to control that urge. More fool me.
“Well, it’s about time you learned what honey is really for.”
“Honey?”
“Yep. Suck it up big bear, because you’re going to have to learn some sweet talking.”
“Sweet…? Have you gone insane? Have you been at those damn magic mushrooms?”
“There’s magic mushrooms?” My sister’s eyes lit up and I scowled back across the table at her.
“Not anymore.” I enjoyed the look of disappointment there.
“Joss…” Doug growled, just as Marcus, one of the squirrel shifters walked thought the doorway.
Bad timing on the squirrel’s part. Doug scented him the moment that he arrived. His head snapped around and his arms shot out and he had that man in a headlock before Marcus could turn and hightail it out of there.
Damn it to hell.
“Ok, ok. I did it. I don’t know what I did, but it was me.” Marcus would own up to dropping bird poop from the sky given the chance.
“I know it was you, you little fecker, and now you’re going to…”
“Put the squirrel down, Doug, and step away.” I’d had it with this town. I’d had it with Doug, and if I was going to be leaving anyway…
“You quit, remember? You don’t get to tell me that I can’t skin this little shite alive and…”
“I’m still a witch, and I can still make it so that you never, ever, have peckerwood again in your miserable life.” I pushed up to my feet and raised just one hand, it was all that I needed as Doug swallowed a little bit of his tongue and turned a whiter shade of pale.
“And if she doesn’t have the stomach for it, I do.” Sydney got to her feet behind me and I watched as Doug slowly released his hold on Marcus.
“Two for the price of one. Ganging up on a man.” Doug growled.
“Not two, three.” I heard that voice and my blood ran cold. It couldn’t be, but I had that skin crawling, stomach churning moment when, even though Doug was blocking out the space where that voice was coming from, I could still see her standing right there…
Crap!
Doug spun around and stepped to the side as my eyes took her in. I groaned. I wailed. I hated my life…
“Hey, mum.” Sydney gave her the title. While I wanted to crawl away and rock myself into insanity. One member of my family was bad enough, but this… please no.
“Mum?” Doug looked confused.
“They weren’t grown in pods, were they? Of course they have a mother.” Nora scolded the big man and he looked more than contrite.
“I just meant…” Doug fell over his own tongue.
I would have laughed- but I was dying inside. My mother walked right up to him and eyed him with contempt. Oops.
“Oh, bear. That explains it.” My mother declared and Doug looked confused again.
“Explains what…?” The man knew he was being insulted; he just didn’t know how yet, and my mother had her ways, boy did she.
“Everything that’s wrong with you, dear.” My mother’s smile and the sweet condescending way in which she spoke threw him for a long moment, and Doug found himself nodding in agreement with her… Right before his brain kicked his backside into gear.
“Hey!” He growled. I felt kind of sorry for him. This was my mother that he was dealing with.
“Doug.” I snapped and he snapped his head around to scowl at me.
“She just…” He pointed a finger of accusation towards her.
“Trust me when I say; leave, save yourself the pain.” I knew that pain well. She’d wear him down to dust just from her presence alone.
When Doug turned on his heels, grunted, and stomped towards the door I wanted to go with him, and that wasn’t something I would normally have chosen to do.
I envied the man.
“My girls.” Mother plastered a smile on her face and I wanted to groan.
“What are you doing here, mum?” It might not have been the greeting she wanted to hear, but tough.
“I was told you both had mates and I came to see the horrors for myself.” She was smiling, but she wasn’t joking. If it wasn’t for the thought of Hawk I might have just shot myself.
“Great. A family reunion.” Sydney grinned as she shot me a look. It was the one that said man up. I died a little more and wondered just how fast I could pack up and leave town.

“It’s just a flying visit.” My mother announced. Standing in my kitchen and snooping around with those disapproving eyes of hers.
“Don’t let me stop you.” I saw her top lip twitch. “Where did you park the broomstick?”
Hawk scowled at me over the top of his sandwich. My kitchen had seemed bigger before it was filled with my family. Now it felt small and claustrophobic.
“Joss, dear. Don’t ever change.” My mother announced with enough acid to clean the drains quite nicely. “Except for that hair, don’t they have a beauty shop here?”
> Hawk almost choked as he swallowed down the bite in his mouth. I’m guessing the man was about to stick up for mother before she spoken… the whole family and elder thing. Now, I’m guessing he knew that she had claws of her own.
“No, which is why we’re moving.” I saw Hawk’s eyes snap from my mother back to me. Yep, it was the first he’d heard of it too.
“We are?” He looked confused. I scowled. “Are moving.” He stumbled and fell, but with one glare from me he’d picked himself up nicely.
“Would that be to a den in the woods somewhere?” My mother’s steely eyes shot towards Hawk and the man had to hold onto a growl. I saw a little twitch under his right eye, serves him right… “That grandbaby is not living with a wolf pack…”
“Grandbaby?” I spluttered and choked.
Hawk’s ears pricked up and his back snapped straight. His head literally shot forward on his neck and he sniffed hard. A lot.
“Baby?” Sydney eyed me. “Really? Because she’s always had a bit of a belly?” My loving family. Ahhh. Grrr.
“What are you daft?” My mother accused me and then turned to look at Hawk. “Guess you’ve lost your sense of smell.”
I looked at Hawk and he looked at my stomach as if he was trying to peer within. Self-conscious wasn’t a word it was a state of being. Hawk was sniffing and grunting…
“Well?” I snapped at him and his eyes snapped up to mine. Then a slow grin started to pull his lips wide and I groaned within.
It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be pregnant with Hawk’s pup. It was that I didn’t want my damn mother to be right. She was, I could tell from the stupid look on my mate’s face.
Damn it.
“A pup…” He had a Scooby Doo moment going on. I felt the need to sit down.
“I need a drink.” I hissed out of tradition. Hawk’s head twisted on his neck and he scowled back at me. “I know. I know. It’s just my mother’s a…”
“Witch.” She announced with enough amusement to make Sydney chuckle and me groan.
“Replace the W with a B.” I muttered.
